The Tuscan archipelago has 7 islands and the most famous is, without doubt, the island of Elba. It is the largest island and is also the closest one to Camping Village Pappasole. That’s why I suggest you spend at least one day there. Basically just reach the port of Piombino, park the car in one of the many parking lots, buy the ticket and set sail.
Try to go from Monday to Thursday because there is less confusion at the embarkation and more easily parking for the car.
Choose one of the 4 ferry companies, consulting in the evening before hours and rates on the Internet. The companies are: Toremar, Moby, Corsica Ferries and Blunavy.
Go on foot and as soon as you arrive in Portoferraio, if you want to visit the island a little, rent a scooter! You will find the rentals as soon as you get off the ship.
The journey lasts from 40 minutes to 1 hour and only that is worth the trip. If you are lucky and you find a clear day you can admire other islands of the archipelago and perhaps, with a bit of luck, dolphins will also follow.
Now, however, I will tell you about my outing outdoor… I and some colleagues embarked on Wednesday at 9:45 with Corsica Ferries and after 40 minutes we were in Portoferraio. The trip was a wonder both on the way to the return because the sea was a table!
We walked towards the gravel, one of the most famous beaches of Portoferraio and in this regard, I give you another advice, indeed two!
Since this is a beach made of stones of various sizes and all white, it is better to bring an umbrella, because the risk of scalding is high!
If you are little accustomed to the stones, equip yourself with special shoes, otherwise, it may be uncomfortable to enter the water!
After spending a few hours on the beach, we went to eat a pizza at one of the restaurants present on the street. There you find restaurants where you can eat pizzas, first, fries, in short, whatever you want!
After lunch, a friend who lives on Elba, made us take a tour of the island by car and with great pleasure, we admired places like the Biodola and the Enfola until you reach the beach of the white, where we spent the afternoon.
Here too the White pebbles are the master together with the water clear and also even salted!
What about, I really recommend to spend at least a day on this fascinating island.
Last tip, if you don’t feel like going up to Piombino with your car and taking the ferry, you can contact reception and ask if in the week you are on holiday there are organized trips!
Appointment to the sports facilities of San Vincenzo for the 2018 edition of the Festival of Octopus, which brings to the table several specialties of the sea including fresh ravioli with octopus sauce, half sleeves to the rock, deviled octopus and marinated octopus. Entertainment after dinner.
The appointment with the White Night at Massa Marittima returns: not one but two evenings of music, food and lots of fun in the streets of the old town. Friday 13th and Saturday July 14th!
For this occasion, the Archeological museum will be open on Friday 13, from 21 to 24 hours with reduced entrance, while the Candlestick Tower opens on Saturday 14th from 9pm to midnight.
On the evening of Saturday 14 there will also be a double guided tour of the sources of abundance, starting at 21 and 10pm, together with the Speleological Group of Massa Marittima (activity by reservation at number 0566.902289 or 334.7986603).
In Casteani, a village in the municipality of Gavorrano (GR), from 6 to 8 and from 13 to 15 July, the festival of the homemade dessert will be held.
Within the program of July Casteanese, the cultural association “the Castle of Stone” organizes this gastronomic event dedicated to the traditional cuisine. Every evening you will be served typical dishes based on both meat and fish. At the end of the meal will be the homemade sweets to be the master.
The food stands open every night from 19:30. Very rich program of events for the after dinner, with dances and entertainment for young and old.
